We Were the Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter
It's still early in the year, but I suspect that this book will make it into my Top 5 of 2025. It's just so good. Set (mostly) in Poland during WWII, the story follows a family dealing with the impacts of war and the horrors of the Nazi regime. It's definitely not a light read - but, as the title foreshadows, it is also a story of hope and resilience. The Kurc family becomes so real throughout these pages - and is, in fact, based on the author's real family. I read this while sipping about a million cups of coffee because I literally could not put it down, and I stayed up way too late to finish it, which was 100% worth it.
